Why Choose Us?

The mission of Associates in Radiation Medicine is to provide compassionate, evidence-based, high-quality treatment and care to our patients.  Our cancer centers are continually updated with state of the art technology and our physicians and staff are trained in the most current techniques for all types of cancer. We believe cancer care requires a team approach, a focus on direct and clear communication with patients and referring physicians to provide information, the treatment plan, status during radiotherapy, and long-term follow-up care. Recognizing that cancer care extends beyond treatment, Associates in Radiation Medicine work integrate into our local communities, educating people about cancer and providing cancer screenings.

Associates in Radiation Medicine offers Integrative Oncology services at their Rockville office.  Integrative Medicine at the Aquilino Cancer Center is a patient-centered program integrating traditional cancer care such as chemotherapy, radiation therapy, surgery and targeted therapies with evidence-informed complementary therapies to treat the whole person, encompassing body, mind and spirit.

Integrative medicine involves a partnership between physician and patient to implement a whole systems healing plan.  Our Integrative Medicine program aims to educate patients on how they can take an active role in their treatment and facilitate healing using food as medicine, physical activity, supplement optimization, stress management, toxin avoidance and other healing modalities which are gaining acceptance through evidence-based research.

Our program offers numerous group educational opportunities as well as one on one consultations with the only physician board certified in both radiation oncology and integrative medicine in our area.  We begin with a thorough lifestyle assessment and then design individual treatment programs based on your needs.

We see patients at any point in the cancer care continuum from active treatment to survivorship.  You can contact Laurie L. Herscher, M.D. at 301-795-0078 to learn more about our program or schedule an appointment.
