Meet Dr. Laurie Herscher

Laurie Herscher, MD

Dr. Herscher grew up in Los Angeles, CA.  She obtained her undergraduate degree from Stanford University and her medical degree from George Washington University in Washington. D.C.  She did her residency training in Radiation Oncology at the National Cancer Institute of the National Institutes for Health in Bethesda, Maryland where she stayed on as a staff physician for about 8 years.  She was then in private practice at Suburban Hospital for about 12 years prior to joining Associates in Radiation Medicine, practicing in the Rockville office.  To further develop her skills in cancer care and help her patients answer the question of “what else can I do?”,  she embarked on further training in integrative oncology.  She completed a fellowship in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona under the direction of Andrew Weil and is now double-board certified in both Radiation Oncology and Integrative Medicine.  She is currently practicing radiation oncology and is the Medical Director of the Integrative Medicine Program at the Aquilino Cancer Center at Shady Grove Medical Center in Rockville. She is passionate about treating the root cause of illnesses, teaching lifestyle modification and helping patients with cancer at all points on the cancer care continuum take an active role in their treatment.
